The trouble with trying to sell anything to anybody... especially
with ads and sales letters... is buyer resistance. So how do you
completely eliminate the resistance to your offer?

It's easy when you learn this secret...

One of the most powerful offers you can use in your advertising
is the word Free.

But, you may well ask... how can I make a profit giving my
products and services away without charging for them?

Which is the exact reason why you need to understand the 'LVC
Formula' - it stands for the Lifetime Value of a Client!

Here's how it works. Let's imagine for a moment you own a beauty
salon. Now if you get a new customer, they may pay you $80 for
their first treatment.

But how much is this $80 client really worth?

After all, most clients will continue to buy off you for many
years to come.

For instance, let's imagine your average client returns for a
beauty treatment 8 times a year... and remains a client for 2
years.

$80 (price of consultation) x 8 (purchases a year) x 2 (number of
years)

Now if you have a calculator handy, you'll work out the value of
this client as $1280.00.

And if your profit margin is 40% this calculates to a $512 profit
per client.

Let's imagine we sent a letter to all the nearby businesses
offering women a free manicure valued at $30.00 (I'm not a beauty
therapist, so please forgive me if all these figures are way
out).

And if the manicure costs you $7 in products and 30 minutes of
your time (which if you're not busy... you'd just be sitting on
your butt anyway!)

So effectively the $7 investment could have just made you $512 in
profit.

And how easy is it to give away a free manicure?

Or for other industries...

* A free car service
* A free dancing lesson
* A free consultation
* A free ice cream
* A free report of some sort

The secret lies in giving away something which has a high
perceived value, but actually costs you very little to produce.

Why does it work so well?

Using the word 'Free' in your advertising STOPS inertia. You see,
people are happy with their current hairdresser... or their
mechanic.

But when they get an opportunity to trial a product or service
for FREE - there's something irresistible and risk free about it,
isn't there?

A word of warning though. Make sure you offer the best possible
service... otherwise people will not come back, and you'll get a
bad name very quickly.

And of course, where possible, make sure you collect a
database... and measure your results.

What could you offer for FREE? Write down a few ideas now... and
start implementing this stuff.

Overwhelmed by the Daily Deluge of E-mail?

Part of being an effective marketer is being an effective
time manager. The little time suckers in our workday can
collectively add up to a LOT of time taken away from our
core functions and billable work. One of the biggest time
drainer is our In-Box.

Tame your e-mail beast by mastering the art of email
management. This will reduce your stress, streamline your
workflow, and improve your efficiency. Here are some
strategies you can implement:

1. Avoid Constant Interruptions: Turn off your auto
send/receive or set it to a reasonable timeframe, like
every hour or two. Some people find they are most
productive at certain times of the day - like early
morning. If this is true for you, regularly block out that
chunk time and DON'T check your e-mails until afterwards.
You will be amazed at what a huge difference this one
change will make in your workday.

2. Respond with Brevity: If possible, reply with an
action-oriented 1-2 line response. Always keep your
messages under 10 sentences. Communicate your main point in
the first sentence or two. Then delete or file the email,
and get back to work!

3. Use Proper Grammar: Do NOT bypass standard grammar and
punctuation. Create a well-written message. It will save
your recipient time, as well.

4. Break Up Topics: Use separate paragraphs or bulleted
lists when possible to save time for your reader. Get in
the habit of doing this and people will tend to respond in
kind. It saves time when you can scan lists quickly.

5. Use the Subject Line: Make sure you are very descriptive
in the subject line. Or, use the subject line for the
entire message: Meet 10:00, 5/30 Ok? You can establish
agreements within your office to use codes in the subject
line like NT for No Text and NRN for No Reply Needed.

6. Don't Break for E-zines: If you are like me, you get a
lot of professional e-zines. These are interesting and
important for our continuing education. However, they can
also serve as easy distractions from the task at hand.
Instead of taking the time to read each one as it is
received, stick them all in a folder labeled "Ezines" and
reserve time each day or even each week to read them all at
once.

ACTION ITEM: This week, take 3 steps toward taming your
e-mail monster! Ideas: Talk to your office and set up
agreements with internal e-mails. Create e-mail folders
that will help you organize your inbox. Reset your auto
email send/receive.

I hope this gives you some great ideas to reduce inbox
clutter and streamline your communications. I'm not a
natural organizer, but the more I create new time
management habits, the more I find time for creativity and
my core business strategies.

What Is Education Based Marketing

Selling-based marketing is built around a selling message,
sometimes called a sales pitch. The sales pitch is often
delivered using methods that reach out to prospective
customers, such as telephone selling, direct mail and
door-to-door sales.

Education-Based Marketing is built around an educational
message, which replaces the sales message. The educational
message is commonly delivered to prospective clients through
educational means. These include written materials, media
publicity (articles and interviews), advertising, seminars,
newsletters, audio and video tapes, and Internet web sites.
Frankly, you can educate your prospective clients using any
method through which they can get your information and advice.


Typically, your Education-Based Marketing program works like
this: You create an educational message, which you first put
into the form of a written handout. Then you offer your handout
to prospects who are interested in your services. Prospects call
your office to get your free written materials. You respond by
sending the materials and inviting prospects to an upcoming
seminar. In addition, you keep prospects educated through your
educational newsletter.

You put your message in front of your prospects through paid
advertising, articles in newspapers and magazines, and
interviews on radio and TV. In addition, you communicate with
people on your mailing list and invite them to attend your
seminar and bring their friends and associates.

Selling-Based Marketing Creates These Problems:

1. Prospects go out of their way to avoid you because they are
tired of selling and sales pressure. They don't like to be
approached by salespeople who have something to sell.

2. Prospects don't think they can trust you because all of us
have been burned by salespeople who gave us "inaccurate" and
even false information in their eagerness to earn a commission.


3. Prospects are defensive and protective because they expect
you to try to pressure them into buying something they don't
want or need.

Education-Based Marketing Provides These Solutions:

1. You give prospective clients what they want, information and
advice -- and you remove what they don't want, a sales pitch.

2. You maintain your dignity because you never make any effort
to sell.

3. You establish yourself as an authority because prospective
clients see you as a reliable source of information.

4. You don't seek out prospects; instead, they call you.

5. You reach prospects during the first stage of the
decision-making process, often before they call your
competitors.

6. You identify even marginal prospects who suffer from
phone-call fear, but who aren't afraid to call for your free
information.

7. You prove that calling your office is nothing to be afraid
